We are seeking a detail-oriented project engineer with field experience in a specialty chemical plant environment. The position will utilize expertise to own, lead, and execute projects from requirements and scope alignment to defining project tasks, milestones, and deliverables to commissioning/handover and completion under the direction of project managers. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of industrial piping standards, process equipment, and safety requirements to drive safety priorities and compliance with our internal and relevant industry standards, regulations and safety protocols.

Position will collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure accurate and efficient piping solutions that align with production and regulatory needs.

This role has the key responsibility for updating P&IDs in AutoCAD and managing engineering drawings.

Essential Functions

  • Reports To: (position) Capital Projects Manager
  • Strong participation in decision making & determining solution for design and engineering issues.
  • Assist project manager in developing bids, proposals, scopes of work, scope changes, correspondence, estimates, schedules, material list, design concepts, design drawings and other project documentation per corporate guidelines.
  • Developing and updating Piping & Instrument Diagrams.
  • Support determining equipment arrangements and piping routing from concept and P&IDs
  • Technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders
  • Cross functional communication and coordination with internal teams and vendors to ensure resource availability as needed.
  • Assist with development of piping specifications and standards.
  • Preparation of RFQ (Request for quotation), Bid evaluations.
  • Maintain project files and documentation.
  • Provide technical assistance and coordination with multiple disciplines for day-to-day project issues.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Mechanical, Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing or similar
  • 1-3 years of experience in field project work, basic process design and layout, preferably within chemical or industrial settings.


Experience Qualifications

  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of piping specifications, materials, and routing practices.
  • Chemical plant, refinery and heavy industrial piping, civil structural experience.
  • Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Fostering unity in diverse groups.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited information in a complex project landscape with minimum guidance
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with project management frameworks


Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Sitting. Working from a seated position for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms one to two times per day.
  • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting. Raising objects up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
