Job Summary:

The Small Business Accounting Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the firm’s small business and individual clients through accurate tax preparation, strategic tax planning, and financial guidance. This position works closely with the Small Business Accounting Manager to oversee the preparation and review of moderately complex S corporation, partnership, and individual tax returns. The role involves supervising staff accountants and bookkeepers, reviewing client financials for accuracy, and ensuring all engagements are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with professional standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service while maintaining the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates closely with Small Business Accounting Manager to ensure accurate and timely completion of engagements.
  2. Prepare and/or review mid-level complexity S corporation, partnership, and individual income tax returns. 
  3. Identify and implement tax planning strategies to optimize client outcomes.
  4. Supervise and train staff accountants and bookkeepers to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
  5. Review client financial statements and reports prepared by internal staff for accuracy and compliance.
  6. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with clients and internal team members.
  7. Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and client confidentiality.
  8. Manage workload efficiently to meet deadlines and deliverables.
  9. Assist clients with special projects, including tax planning, sales tax compliance, and financial statement preparation.
  10. Deliver engagements on time, within budget, and in alignment with client expectations.
  11. Continuously develop technical expertise and contribute to the firm’s overall growth and knowledge base.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and dependability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of financial statement and account reconciliations
  • You will need to demonstrate strong leadership, team management, and communication skills to guide your team and interact with colleagues and clients. 
  • Ability to lead and support a team
  • EA or CPA preferred or willingness to work towards
