Under limited supervision, performs general maintenance and repair work. Assists in all types of general maintenance work, including but not limited to, dismantling; installing; maintaining; and repairing.
Compensation:
$25.65/hour (non-exempt)
This is a Union position with 1 opening.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to: General Maintenance Lead and Facilities Manager

Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Works in all phases of the maintenance and repair trades, including but not limited to, carpentry; electrical; plumbing; and painting.
- Measures and installs all types of window coverings.
- Mixes, pours, and finishes concrete.
- Removes and replaces toilets. Unclogs pipes and toilets which do not require the use of special plumbing tools (i.e. Drain snakes, etc.).
- Changes light bulbs and replaces batteries in smoke detectors.
- Prepares wood, metal, and other surfaces and applies paint, varnish, or other liquid material with a brush, roller, or spray gun.
- Makes routine carpentry repairs to rotted steps, footings, cabinets, roofs, etc.
- Performs the job duties and functions of General Maintenance Specialist I.
- Performs work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees, and with proper care and protection of Company property.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have completed Company-approved training, skill building, and/or continuing education in the areas of electrical and plumbing.
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
- Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
- Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
- Ability to create effective working relationships with employees.
- Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
- Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
- The employee is required to operate objects, tools, or controls.
