Position Summary
The Director, AudioVisual is responsible for the overall management, revenue performance, and operational excellence of the in-house audiovisual department at the assigned hotel or resort. This position ensures the delivery of seamless event technology experiences while maintaining the highest levels of client, guest, and hotel partner satisfaction.
The Director acts as both a strategic partner to hotel leadership and a hands-on leader for the on-site AV team—driving service quality, staff development, and profitability through consistent leadership and collaboration.
Responsibilities & Duties
Operational Management

Oversee all daily audiovisual operations, including event setup, strike, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.

Manage an efficient and profitable AV operation in accordance with company policies and hotel standards.

Focus on revenue growth, sales performance, and cost management while maintaining exceptional service quality.

Oversee equipment inventory, transportation, and security; ensure all gear is properly maintained and utilized.

Ensure accurate billing, timely client approvals, and adherence to company financial procedures.

Maintain a polished, professional image for self and team, consistent with Five-Star and hotel standards.

Implement and uphold the Experiential Method© across all operations to create engaging, client-centered experiences.

Act as the primary liaison between Five-Star and hotel management, maintaining strong communication and trust.
Sales & Business Development

Partner with hotel sales and catering teams to develop and execute AV sales strategies that align with property goals.

Conduct client consultations, site visits, and pre-conference meetings to identify technology needs and enhance event design.

Proactively pursue opportunities to increase revenue through upselling, creative technology solutions, and package development.

Create accurate and timely proposals, ensuring clarity in scope and pricing.

Maintain an active presence with key hotel partners to support group sales initiatives and drive future business.

Track performance metrics, analyze sales data, and forecast department revenue in collaboration with regional leadership.

Represent Five-Star AudioVisual during hotel walkthroughs, client visits, and partner events as a trusted AV expert.
Customer Service

Deliver exceptional hospitality and client care, serving as a visible leader in all event and client interactions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with hotel management, event planners, and clients to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.

Conduct client meetings and site visits to ensure expectations are met and event setups are flawless.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, train, and mentor the on-site AV team to uphold company standards and performance expectations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 4+ years of experience in audiovisual management, event technology, or hospitality event operations.

Proven success leading AV teams and managing event production in a hotel or resort environment.

Strong background in sales, client relationship management, and event execution.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with AV systems, event management platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, event management, or related field preferred.

Certification in audiovisual technology or related coursework a plus.
