Purpose:
McCombs School of Business is looking for Peer Coaches (PCs). PCs are McCombs students employed and trained by BBA Career Management staff to assist students with their job search. PCs will also have the opportunity to expand their own skills through project management. PCs report to BBA Career Management staff and will be assigned special projects. Presentation skills will be enhanced by assisting Career Coaches with workshops and special events. Both individual and group communication skills will be developed through interaction with students and the Career Management staff. PCs will gain valuable insights into the career planning process, which will give them a distinct advantage in their own search for an internship or a full-time position. This is a paid, on-campus position starting at $12/hour.
The BBA Career Management team is dedicated to guiding you through all phases of career development. We offer individual advising, a BA 101 Career Planning Strategies course, specialized programming, and events/workshops.
The Peer Coach will assist students during drop-in hours facilitating resume & cover letter reviews, as well as mock interviews and answering general recruiting questions. In addition, PCs may host introductory conversations with students about the BBA Career Management Office resources and support.
Responsibilities:
Administrative Duties: PCs perform a variety of administrative tasks to assist Career Management staff in projects and workshops.
Promotion and Marketing Outreach: PCs will assist with the creation of digital and printed marketing to advertise various BBA Career Management programs and events. PCs perform general outreach activities throughout the business school. Other opportunities include expanding and managing BBA Career Management's social media platforms.
Community Mentorship: PCs will partner with career coaches in our efforts to provide spaces for career communities. PCs will be assigned industries to help focus on fostering communities by assisting in helping plan events, help manage the McCombs Connect Career Communities, and serve as ambassadors
Innovation: Peer Coaches have the opportunity to create new events, workshops, resources, and more to better serve BBA students.
Special Projects: PCs will also have the opportunity to work on special assignments to prepare for various BBACM events and programs, such as BA101 Mock Interviews and the McCombs Career Expo.
Required Qualifications:
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be a McCombs undergraduate student for their entirety of their employment
Must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 hours for the Summer, Fall, and Spring
Must be able to work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week (excluding University breaks)
Must be able to participate in meetings and training orientations which will take place at the beginning of and throughout each semester
Preferred Qualifications:
Be in good standing with the University.
Able to continue the PC for future semesters/years.
Hourly Rate:
$12/hr
Working Conditions:
Work performed in standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
Schedule Work Shift:
5-10 hours per week
Position ends on May 2026
Rehire eligible based on performance.
