JOB DESCRIPTION: ELEMENTARY TEACHER
A. POSITION SUMMARY The Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The Teacher creates a safe and engaging learning environment, collaborates with colleagues, and communicates effectively with parents, students, and school administrators to support the overall goals of Boone County Schools.
B. REPORTS TO • Principal or designee
• Works collaboratively with instructional support staff, fellow teachers, and district administrators.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Holds or is eligible for a valid West Virginia teaching certificate appropriate for the assigned position.
2. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of content area and best instructional practices.
3. Possesses effective communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
4. Committed to ongoing professional growth and development.
5. Meets any additional requirements as established by the Boone County Board of Education or the West Virginia Department of Education.
D. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plans and implements engaging, standards-based lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of students.
2. Creates and maintains a safe, orderly, and supportive classroom environment conducive to learning.
3. Uses a variety of instructional strategies and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
4. Assesses student progress regularly using multiple measures and provides timely feedback to students and parents.
5. Differentiates instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with special needs and English language learners.
6. Integrates technology effectively to support instruction and student learning.
7. Collaborates with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to plan and implement school programs and initiatives.
8. Participates in professional learning opportunities to stay current on educational best practices and curriculum standards.
9. Maintains accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance as required by district and state policy.
10. Communicates regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
11. Follows all district policies, procedures, and guidelines as well as state and federal regulations.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.
E. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT • Contract: Full-time 200 days or as determined by the Boone County Board of Education. • Salary: Based on the Boone County Schools salary schedule and commensurate with experience and certification. Salary based on Boone County Schools Professoinal Teacher Salary Scale
F. EVALUATION Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boone County Board of Education’s policy on the evaluation of professional personnel.
