Position Summary:
Supervises the organization, planning and implementation of all purchasing and material activities including general purchasing, subcontract management, resource allocation, financial controls and material management.
Essential Functions:
- Lead the development and control of policies, procedures, programs and systems related to purchasing and materials management
- Ensure the timely and best value procurement of all materials, parts, assemblies, equipment and services along with the planning, control, and distribution of all materials and company assets required for manufacturing
- Supports programs, projects, products, services and off-site operations in compliance with government regulations and contractual commitments
- Collaborate across functional teams including engineering, planning, production, sales and finance
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to assess current and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports
- Develop a vendor quote evaluation system utilizing appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure best value of quality, price and delivery
- Design, implement, manage and monitor procurement reporting systems to meet company requirements
- Recruit and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at competitive prices
- Prepares and issue purchase orders and changes notices, review purchase orders for compliance with company policy
- Prepare and /reviews contracts, bids, proposals and supplier agreements for, pricing and specifications
- Negotiate complex requests for equipment, supplies and services from suppliers and subcontractors
- Manage Purchase Order delivery schedules and supplier performance to ensure on time delivery in full to support internal production schedules and customer requirements
- Manages key metrics related to assigned suppliers and internal processes to achieve divisional targets
- May require up to 10% travel
Qualifications
Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Demonstrated capability to effectively set and communicate priorities for oneself and team members, ensuring alignment on objectives and efficient task management
- Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
- High degree of initiative and excellent teamwork skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to Work independently
- Expert proficiency in ERP/MRP Systems and other industry programs
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement and Just-In-Time materials management methodologies
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Education, Certifications and Experience:
- BA/BS degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
- 6-10+years’ experience in a manufacturing or related job shop environment preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
