We are seeking a highly accomplished Benefits Senior Technical Consultant. As Benefits Senior Technical Consultant, you will serve as a strategic advisor and technical matter expert within our Employee Benefits team. This position blends advanced knowledge of insurance, funding, and claims analytics with strong business insight to create forward-thinking solutions for clients. The Benefits Senior Technical Consultant collaborates with producers, consultants, account managers, and carrier partners to deliver meaningful, data-informed recommendations that support renewals, strengthen client relationships, and drive new business growth. The role also includes active involvement in prospect meetings, using technical expertise to demonstrate value and help secure new clients. This is a senior-level position that requires deep industry understanding, analytical excellence, and leadership within a collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
- Client Strategy & Innovation: Drive innovative, data-informed benefit strategies that optimize cost and coverage while supporting client acquisition and retention through strategic plan design, financial insights, and collaborative engagement with sales teams and industry events.
- Technical Analysis & Financial Modeling: Deliver tailored financial and utilization analyses—including benchmarking, renewal projections, and multi-year claims reviews—while interpreting insurance contracts and funding models to generate strategic insights, executive summaries, and data-driven recommendations that support client decision-making.
- Carrier Relations & Market Negotiation: Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, managing renewals, quote negotiations, and ensuring proposed rates align with client goals. Maintain transparent, collaborative relationships to maximize leverage, while preparing professional communications that summarize renewal outcomes and next steps.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with account management and consulting teams to align deliverables with client strategies, while mentoring team members, supporting onboarding, and contributing to process improvements. Act as a senior resource in client meetings and internal discussions, providing expertise on financial outcomes and technical analysis.
- Professional Development & Market Awareness: Stay current on industry trends, legislation, and competitor activity to inform strategic recommendations and enhance benefit program performance. Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through cross-selling and complementary services.
What You Bring
- Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree or industry equivalent experience. 8–10+ years of experience in employee benefits consulting broker or carrier.
- License or Certification Requirements:
- Current Colorado Life & Health Insurance License.
- Professional certifications or designations (e.g., CEBS, GBA, or equivalent) preferred
- Requires current Colorado driver’s license and acceptable MVR

- Benefits Expertise: Strong knowledge of employee benefits, funding strategies, and plan design, including self-funded benefit structures.
- Analytical Skills: Skilled in financial modeling, claims analysis, and renewal projections.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, with proven experience writing client-ready summaries and reports
- Collaboration: Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills across sales, service, and carrier teams.
- Organization: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

- Salary Range - Starting pay for this exempt position is $110,000 – $150,000 annually. Pay may exceed this range for well-qualified candidates, commensurate with experience. In addition to regular pay, this position is eligible to participate in our annual performance incentive program.
