POSITION: Home Office Intern, GHA Creative Services Social Media Intern

LOCATION: Hybrid – Phoenix Home Office

FLSA STATUS: non-exempt hourly (unpaid for college credit)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid: remote and on-site at Great Hearts Academies)
Hours: 15–20 hours per week
Start Date: January 12, 2025
Compensation: Unpaid (for academic credit)
Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University
The Great Hearts America Creative Team is seeking talented and motivated student interns to join us for the Spring 2025 semester. Our team serves as the storytelling hub of the Great Hearts network, creating engaging multimedia content that celebrates our students, teachers, and communities.
Each internship offers hands-on experience in media production, storytelling, and creative strategy, ideal for students eager to build their portfolios while earning academic credit. If selected for an interview, applicants will be asked to provide a portfolio of previous work in advance of the interview.
The Social Media Intern will support Great Hearts’ digital marketing and outreach efforts by creating and managing social media campaigns designed to engage students, families, and the broader community. This role is perfect for students interested in brand storytelling, digital strategy, and content creation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and schedule engaging content for social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
- Produce short-form videos and graphics for digital campaigns
- Develop creative strategies aimed at reaching middle and high school students
- Assist in loading and monitoring campaigns in Meta, Google Ads, and other digital platforms
- Track engagement metrics and suggest ways to optimize campaign performance
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Express, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Understanding of social media best practices and current trends
- Experience in shooting and editing video for social media formats
- Knowledge of campaign management tools (Meta Business Suite, Google Ads Manager, etc.)
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Learning Outcomes:
- Gain hands-on experience in social media marketing and campaign management
- Build an understanding of content analytics and performance strategy
- Develop a professional creative portfolio suitable for digital media roles
Type of fingerprint clearance: Must be able to pass fingerprint background clearance.
Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
