What are we looking for?
Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Transfusion Practitioner with a competitive salary on offer.
The post holder will assist the lead TP and other members of the Hospital Transfusion Team, to deliver a comprehensive, cost-effective, and high-quality clinical transfusion service at CCL. The main responsibility of the role is to work with multi-disciplinary teams, to promote and support safe and appropriate use of blood components and provide high standards of transfusion care for our patients.
This is a part-time role with working hours of Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 role.
Shifts will be dependent on clinic needs - either 2.5 shifts per week or one week with 2 shifts and the next as 3.

The Transfusion Practitioner role is focused on the development and delivery of transfusion related education and training, transfusion governance/ regulatory compliance, monitoring practice, adverse events management and promotion of patient blood management. Transfusion Practitioners also provide a link between the transfusion laboratory and clinical teams, they deliver relevant clinical advice and support related operational / service improvement activity.
What will your duties include?
To role model the values of the organisation/ transfusion team, demonstrating a person-centred approach to service delivery and development.
To provide expert advice, information and support to all staff involved in the blood transfusion process.
Support and participate in the Hospital Transfusion Team/Committee meetings.
Monitor blood component traceability compliance and act, investigate and report traceability non-compliance.
To collaborate and lead on blood transfusion audit across CCL by monitoring and evaluating recommendations for blood transfusion practice.
What we need from you?
Minimum of 3 years post registration experience, with at least 2 years in clinical area with high blood component use, or in a transfusion laboratory (Essential).
Experience of teaching, training, assessment and supervision (Essential).
Experience of collaborating in audit and/or nursing research (Essential).
Experience of working as a Transfusion Practitioner (Desirable).
Knowledge of research techniques/ methodology (Desirable).
