PACE has partnered with Paving the Road to Success, a local nonprofit to offer an exciting work experience opportunity. The individual will be hired by PACE and gain work experience at Paving the Road to Success as an PEACE AMBASSADOR. SUMMARY
The Peace Ambassador serves as a frontline advocate for youth safety, emotional wellness, and community trust. This role supports violence intervention efforts by building authentic relationships, modeling emotional intelligence, and facilitating safe passages for youth in high-impact zones. Peace Ambassadors embody the values of healing, accountability, and empowerment, acting as visible symbols of unity and care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Youth Engagement & Mentorship
- Build consistent, trauma-informed relationships with youth during school transitions, community events, and crisis moments.
- Serve as a trusted adult presence, offering emotional support, conflict mediation, and guidance.
Safety Passage & Visibility
- Provide safe passage support during school arrival/dismissal and community transitions.
- Wear branded gear to increase visibility and reinforce staff unity and organizational identity
Violence Intervention & De-escalation
- Respond to community tensions with calm, culturally responsive de-escalation strategies
- Collaborate with staff and partners to identify and interrupt cycles of violence.
Community Collaboration
- Share insights from community collaborations to inform program design and strategic partnerships.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit timely notes and incident reports as applicable to support monthly programmatic reporting
- Participate in reflective supervision and team debriefs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Deep connection to the community and lived experience navigating systems of violence and healing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and cultural humility.
- Ability to remain calm and grounded in high-stress environments.
- Commitment to restorative practices and youth empowerment.
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability are preferred.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
- This position is a temporary work experience/job training opportunity. This position will end once you reach 400 hours maximum.
- The work schedule varies from agency to agency, but this is a part-time temporary position. There are no benefits tied to training positions.
