Job Title: Job Captain – Architectural Glass & Aluminium
Position Overview
The Job Captain plays a key role in coordinating and executing glazing and aluminum system projects from design through installation. This position bridges the gap between design, engineering, fabrication, and field operations—ensuring drawings, materials, and schedules align to deliver successful curtain wall, storefront, large format wall, and glazing projects.
The ideal candidate has strong technical drafting and coordination experience in architectural glass and aluminium systems, with the ability to lead project documentation and resolve design or fabrication issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination:
- Support Project Managers in planning and coordinating project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
 - Act as the main liaison between design, estimating, drafting, fabrication, and installation teams.
 
 - Technical Drawings & Documentation:
- Prepare, review, and coordinate detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and field installation drawings.
 - Ensure all drawings comply with architectural and structural requirements, contract documents, and building codes.
 - Incorporate design revisions and coordinate with consultants and architects to resolve technical conflicts.
 
 - System Detailing:
- Develop detailed drawings for curtain wall, large format wall, storefront, entrances, and skylight systems.
 - Coordinate integration of glass types, hardware, anchors, sealants, and thermal components.
 
 - Quality & Compliance:
- Verify alignment of drawings with project specifications, structural calculations, and approved submittals.
 - Maintain version control and document management standards.
 
 - Communication & Leadership:
- Lead coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders (architects, GCs, consultants).
 - Support junior drafters and outsources by reviewing and guiding drawing production.
 - Provide technical input during design-assist or pre-construction phases.
 
 - Field & Fabrication Support:
- Assist fabrication and installation teams with technical clarifications or drawing adjustments.
 - Conduct site visits or shop inspections as required to verify field conditions and design intent.
 
 
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
 - 5+ years of experience in architectural glass, curtain wall, or aluminum system detailing.
 - Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit (an asset), and glass/aluminum system design principles.
 - Familiarity with CSA, AAMA, and NFRC standards.
 - Understanding of thermal performance, waterproofing, anchorage, and glazing details.
 - Excellent communication and organizational skills.
 - Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
