Respiratory Therapy Lead 

Landmark Hospital of Athens is seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapy Lead to lead our dynamic RT department. The RT department at Landmark is well-known and respected for successfully managing some of the most complex respiratory cases.  We have a high volume of high-acuity and interesting cases. The RT Lead serves as a liaison with the pulmonologist team, as well as a key part of the interdisciplinary team at the hospital. This position is responsible for planning and designing, directing, integrating, and coordinating services, and planning and implementing performance improvement activities for the respiratory therapy/lab and radiology department. In addition, the RT Lead participates in the assessment and treatment planning of the patient as it relates to respiratory care and performs respiratory therapy, and ECG testing, including performing life sustaining measures as directed.   This is a hands-on working manager role, so will also be involved in the delivery of patient care as well as managing and coordinating the RT staff.

Essential Duties

  • Lead Department
    • Ensures scheduling and staffing are sufficient to provide patient care 
    • Interviews, hires and trains staff
    • Performs as preceptor to confirms competency of staff providing respiratory therapy
    • Provides quality assurance to continuously improve RT function (Chart auditing, quality data collection and documentation, Key performance indicators)
    • Ensures respiratory equipment, devices and suppliers are adequate to meet patient needs; Organizes, orders and manages RT department supplies and inventory
    • Ensures safety of patients and staff members through enforcement and following of policies and procedures
    • Mentors & sets a positive example to guides other RT staff in standards and best practices
  • Provide Respiratory Care
    • Provides patient care for Respiratory therapy needs, consulting with medical staff and executing medical orders accurately and timely, following standards and protocols 
    • Setups and operates RT therapy devices to ensure parameters of treatment
    • Administers medicinal gases and medications within acceptable error rate
    • Evaluates outcomes and interventions and implements necessary changes to improve care
    • Observes equipment functions and makes adjustments to obtain optimum results in therapy

Experience & Licensure Requirements 

  • 2 year Associates Degree in RT
  • Minimum of 5 years of RT patient care experience (preferably in hospital setting)
  • Minimum of 1 year management / supervisory experience (3-5 years preferred)
  • Active license as RT in the state of GA
  • Active BLS and ACLS certification
