Nure Practitioner for Oculoplastic Services
Location: Inland Empire, Coachella, San Diego
Job Summary:
This is an excellent opportunity for advanced practice nursing students or recent NP graduates to gain hands-on experience in the specialized field of ophthalmology. The NP will work closely with experienced ophthalmologists to deliver high-quality care to patients with a variety of eye conditions.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in performing comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, pupil evaluations, and slit-lamp assessments.
- Conduct patient history intakes and document findings in electronic medical records.
- Support in diagnosing and managing common ophthalmic conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Participate in pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients.
- Provide education to patients and families about eye health, preventive care, and prescribed treatments.
- Address patient questions and concerns under the supervision of the clinical team.
- Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Assist in coordinating patient referrals to subspecialties and ancillary services.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and rounds with the ophthalmology team.
- Stay current on the latest evidence-based practices in ophthalmology and advanced nursing care.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) in California.
- Basic knowledge of ophthalmology or interest in pursuing a career in the field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience or clinical rotations in ophthalmology or related specialties.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (e.g., Epic).
- Current license with the Board
