Job Summary
Plans and supervises the work of crews within their division of the department. Plans and supervises the work of electronic technicians, and helpers in the installation and repair of electronic equipment and related electronic control systems for the Board of Public Education.
What you will do
- Reviews and assigns work orders, estimates costs, reviews plans with principals, assigns and supervises employees, inspects work, and keeps all necessary records to ensure quality work.
- Principal contact between MNPS Maintenance and Nashville Fire Department, Fire Marshal Division
- Oversees the installation and maintenance of audio/visual, clocks/bells, closed circuit TV systems, door cameras, electronic door access, elevators, fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fire protection, fire sprinkler systems, intercoms, PA systems, projector repairs, security cameras, smoke detectors, sound systems, wheelchair lifts, and scoreboards to ensure high quality work for the Board of Education.
- Requests bids for equipment and jobs, maintains accurate records and reports on work progress to ensure cost efficient department operations..
- Coordinates the use of P/A systems for special addresses, events, graduations and other District events as needed in conjunction with the Communications Department
- Assists in the training of new personnel, enforce safety regulations, reviews work in-progress and at completion in order to ensure high quality work.
- Assists with evaluating employment applications and contract venders to ensure that only highly qualified maintenance employees and contractors work for the Board of Public Education.
- Establishes and maintains working relationships with others; organize and prioritize work effectively.
- Supervises less than twenty-five technicians.
- Works with other departments in MNPS and Metro Government to ensure local & state fire marshal compliance.
- High School Diploma Or GED Required
- 5 years directly applicable electronics or fire systems maintenance experience including supervising others Required

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
