Working under general supervision, the Production Supervisor will oversee daily shift performance while also contributing to broader plant initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Success in this role is demonstrated by strong people leadership, adaptability, critical thinking, and the ability to foster a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. The position plays a key part in driving plant objectives through effective supervision, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration. Employees in this position may interact with their leader several times a week to receive guidance and feedback. Most non-routine activities may require their leader’s advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.


 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises, trains, mentors, and empowers team members. Meets regularly to set goals, giving feedback, and monitor progress. Builds and maintains a team of focused and engaged employees. 
  • Proactively participates in and, as needed, leads plant-wide projects, process improvements, and special initiatives that extend beyond daily shift management. 
  • Utilizes real-time data and system tools to make staffing, quality, productivity, and cost decisions, ensuring both shift and plant-level targets are achieved. 
  • Identifies, develops, and supports talent within the team, building bench strength, fostering cross-training, and supporting the growth of future leaders across the operation. Meets regularly with leader and peers to create and execute consistent talent development processes. Meet regularly with direct reports to provide developmental feedback and coaching. 
  • Demonstrates adaptability, critical thinking, and initiative, effectively navigating and championing change in a fast-paced, high-mix production environment. 
  • Effectively prioritizes and organizes initiatives and team to meet strategic company goals.
  • Works cross-functionally and communicates effectively both up and down the organization, collaborating with CI, Maintenance, QA, Food Safety, R&D, Supply Chain, and others to drive plant success. 
  • Ensures shift data and records are accurate and up to date. Verifies information input into company software is accurate and complete. Trains and empowers team members to utilize data to make decisions.
  • Act as a Safety champion, ensuring that team culture embodies a “safety first, safety always” attitude with policies, procedures, and accountability to protect our ‘ohana’s safety. 
  • Meet business demand by scheduling production runs to meet need while upholding King’s Hawaiian’s Irresistible quality standards. 
  • Create and execute strategies to improve performance for all major metrics (safety, quality, OEE, yields, etc.) using data to drive decisions and priorities. 
  • Ensure compliance with all King’s Hawaiian policies and procedures (Safety, EEO, Sexual Harassment, Quality, etc.).

  • Role may require off-shift and/or weekend work. 
  • Perform other duties as required which are reasonably within scope of this role. 

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience required; degree in Industrial Engineering, Food Science, or Business preferred.
  •  At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in manufacturing required
  •  At least 1 year of experience directly leading salaried and/or hourly team members required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, quality reports, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English required.
  •  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals required.
  • Proficiency with all MS Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Experience in food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvement and delivering results through cross-functional teamwork and project participation preferred.
  • Proven record of developing talent and supporting professional growth among team members preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance from co-worker and/or mechanical devices.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, including walking, kneeling, crouching, and climbing.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working understanding of SAP S/4HANA.
  • Working understanding of RedZone Productivity Suite or similar software.
  • Proficient ability to build dashboards using Excel and/or Tableau.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate King’s values of excellence, dignity, saying it like it is in a way it can be heard; and curiosity, collaboration, critical thinking and emotional intelligence.

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $110,000
