Position:              Service Associate
Department:        Del Sol Marketplace

Job Summary:     Generates sales, assists with merchandising, and safeguards the assets of the Enterprise while
                            providing outstanding guest service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  1. Welcomes and greets all guests; ensures they receive outstanding service by maintaining a professional level of communication as well as demonstrating solid product knowledge at all times.
  2. Interacts with guests, assists in locating or using products/merchandise, and convinces them to make purchases.
  3. Informs supervisor of special requests.
  4. Processes credit card and cash transactions and bags merchandise.  Assures accuracy of sales data and cash handling, including balancing of assigned bank.
  5. Redeems scripts, vouchers, coupons, and receipts for products.
  6. Monitors the sale of designated items to ensure that minors do not come in possession of them.  Requests to see identification from any person who appears to be under a certain age and maintains an alertness to any suspicious activity that may indicate that a guest of the proper age is buying these items for an underage person.Produces end of shift reports.
  7. Exhibits results-oriented behavior by resolving problems and anticipating needs.
  8. Addresses issues in a pleasant and professional manner and keeps the supervisor informed; refers situations that are difficult to resolve to a supervisor.
  9. Passes all retail sales goals successfully.
  10. Maintains the proper display of goods on the floor, monitors date codes, ensures goods and services are properly priced, and ensures goods meet established quality standards.
  11. Assists in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping.
  12. Assists in processing and replenishing merchandise as well as monitoring floor stock.
  13. Assists in completing price changes.
  14. Participates in regular inventory and cycle counts.
  15. Maintains an awareness of promotions and advertisements.
  16. Notifies supervisor if equipment is broken and needs repair or replacement.
  17. Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
  18. Maintains cleanliness of store areas throughout the shift practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.
  19. Displays a diplomatic, polished, and professional demeanor in the workplace.
  20. Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  21. Fosters a team environment by working collaboratively with co-workers.
  22. Displays initiative and ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
  23. Participates in professional development activities such as sales trainings.
  24. Maintains an awareness of current trends in the convenience store industry.
  25. Acts as a resource for Enterprise policies, programs, services, and activities.
  26. Attends departmental and Enterprise meetings, as required.
  27. Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information; protects Enterprise assets.
  28. Maintains a current valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  29. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of convenience store industry standards.
  2. Knowledge of merchandising and suggestive selling.
  3. Knowledge of departmental and Enterprise policies, standards, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  4. Knowledge of guest service practices.
  5. Knowledge of cash handling policies and procedures, including manual cash counts and reconciliation.
  6. Knowledge of safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  7. Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  8. Organizational and time management skills.
  9. Good communication skills.
  10. Skill in working courteously with guests as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.
  11. Skill in performing mathematical computations;
  12. Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.
  13. Ability to meet assigned goals.
  14. Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position, including the ability to accurately handle and count money as well as make change.
  15. Ability to operate all equipment needed for the position, such as cash registers, calculators, computer, and photocopier.
  16. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  17. Ability to read and write legibly.
  18. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  19. Ability to maintain and clean site facilities.
  20. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  21. Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, vendors, and the public.
  22. Ability to use tact, courtesy and communicate well with others.
  23. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and work extended hours as needed.
  24. Ability to maintain reliable transportation and two methods of contact for on-call or back-up shift hours.
  25. Ability to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  26. Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  27. Ability to stand, stoop, bend, kneel and crouch, and reach objects above shoulder height.
  28. Ability to work in a smoking environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  2. One (1) year of retail sales experience.
  3. Proficiency with cash registers, calculators, currency transactions, and point of sale systems.
  4. Ability to maintain the physical stamina required, including an ability to stand for long periods.
  5. Ability to lift and move twenty (20) or more pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  6. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
  7. Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  8. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  9. Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
  10. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  11. Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  2. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
