About Us
 Nestled in the hills above Stowe, Vermont, the Trapp Family Lodge is a European-style resort inspired by the legendary von Trapp family’s Austrian heritage. Our property spans 2,500 acres and features multiple dining outlets, including the Bierhall, Main Lodge fine dining restaurant, Kaffeehaus, and a range of banquet and special event venues. We are dedicated to warm hospitality, quality craftsmanship, and memorable guest experiences.

Position Summary
The Assistant Food & Beverage Director supports the overall leadership and success of the resort’s food and beverage operations, with a strong focus on front-of-house excellence, service culture, and guest satisfaction. This role partners closely with the Director of Food & Beverage and the culinary leadership team to ensure seamless, high-quality service across all outlets, while fostering a positive, professional work environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the front-of-house teams across all dining outlets, bars, and banquet operations.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality service standards aligned with the Trapp Family Lodge brand.
  • Train, coach, and develop supervisors and staff in service technique, guest interaction, and product knowledge.
  • Assist in managing departmental budgets, labor forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Partner with culinary leadership to align service with menu design, seasonal changes, and special events.
  • Oversee beverage program execution, including wine, beer, and cocktail menu development in collaboration with the Beverage Manager.
  • Maintain close involvement in daily operations—greeting guests, observing service, and ensuring smooth communication between departments.
  • Support hiring, scheduling, and performance management for all FOH teams.
  • Participate in planning and execution of weddings, banquets, and resort-wide events.
  • Champion a culture of hospitality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of progressive food and beverage management experience in a resort, upscale hotel, or fine dining environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
  • Proven success in service training, guest relations, and staff development.
  • Understanding of beverage programs, event operations, and financial management.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, multi-outlet environment.
  • A passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence.
