Join our team as a DNA Databasing Analyst and contribute directly to public safety and justice. This critical role involves the management, analysis, and interpretation of DNA profiles within forensic databases, primarily the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). You'll ensure the integrity and effective utilization of DNA data to generate investigative leads and identify individuals linked to crimes. Position Duties

A baccalaureate degree with twelve semester hours in biology or chemistry and an additional twelve semester hours in a biological science, chemistry, forensic science, molecular physics, physics, criminalistics or pharmacology.
 
A combination of coursework is allowed.
 
NOTE:
Applicants must meet the current educational requirements of the hiring agency’s accrediting body for the laboratory.
 
NOTE:
Criminal Justice is not considered a qualifying educational field.
 
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Job Duties: 
As a Crime Laboratory Analyst, you will conduct forensic analyses at the request of local, state, and federal law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. Duties will include: 

  • Analyzing biological specimens with knowledge of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) analysis including isolation, identification, and genetic characterization of body fluids. 
  •  Conducting database queries to compare DNA profiles in the Combined DNA Indexing System (CODIS). 
  •  Completing technical reviews of database analyses, which involves reviewing DNA data and uploading reviewed offender DNA profiles to CODIS. 
  • Assisting with quality control and accreditation functions such as inspections, audits, reviewing policies and procedures, reviewing and proposing recommendations on operations, staying abreast of best practices, and conducting research regarding scientific advancements. 
  • Collaborating with a team of fellow scientists to ensure timely completion of tasks including adherence to all laboratory protocols, procedures, and equipment maintenance schedules. 
  • Demonstrating competency by participating in approved external proficiency testing programs. 
  •  Upholding professional ethics within the forensic community.

Position-Specific Details:

 Appointment Type: Job Appointment, Probational, or Promotional 
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Crime Laboratory Analyst 1, 2, 3, or 4. Work Schedule:  8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. 
Compensation: Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
