We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team and help shape the design of our digital products. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves solving real user problems, creating intuitive interfaces, and working closely with product and engineering teams to deliver great experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Design for impact: Create user-friendly, visually appealing designs for web, mobile, email, and subscription products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver user-centred solutions.
- Contribute to the design system: Use and help evolve our Figma-based component library and design guidelines.
- Champion usability and accessibility: Ensure designs meet high standards for usability, accessibility, and consistency.
- Support research and testing: Incorporate user feedback, A/B testing, and data insights into your design process.
- Balance speed and craft: Make smart trade-offs between polish and delivery without compromising user experience
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A standout portfolio that shows smart, user-first thinking across digital products, clear purpose, and clean execution.
- Solid understanding of UX and UI principles, responsive design, and accessibility best practices.
- Figma fluency, plus experience working with design systems to keep things consistent and scalable.
- Confident communicator, able to explain your thinking and work smoothly with product, dev, and wider business teams.
- You are data-aware and have an understanding of front-end development concepts and how design translates into code.
- Prioritise attention to detail, with a sharp eye for layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
- Comfort in agile teams, iterating fast and adapting to feedback without losing sight of the user.
- Proactive mindset, always looking to improve the experience and champion design thinking
- Proven experience in the media industry, ideally in publishing and a desire to help shape how local news thrives in a digital-first world.
