THE JOB:
The Director of Network Engineering is a visionary leader and accomplished wired/wireless technologist responsible for driving the strategy, innovation, and excellence of our enterprise network infrastructure. Acting as both a strategist and player-coach, this role leads a dynamic team of engineers in delivering secure, scalable, and highly available network solutions while owning the full lifecycle of network products. With deep expertise across the OSI stack—particularly in Layer 2, Layer 3, SDA, DWDM, and large enterprise technologies—the Director ensures optimal performance through proactive maintenance, incident management, and continuous improvement. Collaborating across IT and business teams, this leader will enhance the guest digital experience and optimize network security, scalability, supportability, and cost efficiency through data-driven governance and effective management of capital and operational expenditures.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Lead and mentor as a player-coach: Guide a team of wired and wireless network engineers, fostering technical excellence, professional growth, and accountability while modeling hands-on leadership.

  • Develop and empower talent: Mentor engineers to strengthen their technical analysis, solution engineering, and communication skills, ensuring results are clearly conveyed through network service and governance reports.

  • Drive innovation and collaboration: Cultivate a culture of teamwork, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing, enabling the team to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing network solutions that enhance the digital experience.

  • Ensure operational excellence: Oversee incident management, problem resolution, and proactive maintenance, establishing governance frameworks that uphold SLA performance, compliance, and network reliability.

  • Optimize network technologies: Champion the effective use of platforms and tools such as Cisco Catalyst Center, SNMP, Sflow/NetFlow, SDA, DWDM, and ACI to maximize network observability, performance, and efficiency.

  • Align strategy and execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and partners to align network and solution architectures with business goals, driving innovation, scalability, and measurable business impact.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred, with 4+ years leading and mentoring technical teams and 8+ years designing and developing large-scale enterprise networks, including wireless and automation.

  • Proven experience in network architecture for highly distributed hybrid cloud environments, translating complex technical and business requirements into scalable, secure, and innovative solutions.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Cisco technologies including Route/Switch, ACI, Wireless, SD-WAN, and cloud connectivity, along with strong familiarity with monitoring and observability tools.

  • Skilled in financial management of OPEX and CAPEX budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of network solutions that meet operational and strategic goals.

  • Deep technical knowledge of routing, switching, and security technologies, with hands-on experience across enterprise tools such as Palo Alto firewalls, Citrix Netscaler, Zscaler, NetScout, and InfoBlox.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, fostering collaboration across teams and partners while promoting innovation through a “how might we” approach to problem-solving.
