Over the past decade ABAR Abstract has grown to become one of New York’s most trusted providers of expert real estate abstracts, by working closely with lenders, attorneys and buyers to help simplify and expedite closing. We’ve recently invested in growing our footprint by partnering with new technologies to streamline policies, procedures and communications. ABAR is looking to grow yet again by adding a dedicated Abstractor to our team. 




We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced and tech-savvy Abstractor to join our growing team. The Abstractor conducts accurate and complete searches of land and related records for real estate transactions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct land records searches that range in complexity, ensuring work is accurate.
  • Obtain property tax information from appropriate municipalities.
  • Obtain Surrogates Court information as needed.
  • Review vendor search work for accuracy and findings out according to company standards.
  • Utilize various documents, files, websites, and title search software. 
  • Verify legal descriptions for accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Cross-training in different areas and departments as needed.
  • Occasional in-person visits to the Monroe County Clerk’s Office.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience working as an Abstractor or Searcher required.
  • Strong computer skills; comfortable working with title production software, cloud-based systems, Microsoft Office, and online research tools.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to assess incomplete information and determine next steps.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

Working Conditions

  • The Abstractor position is primarily in an office setting and may be exposed to outdoor conditions.
  • The working conditions are classified as sedentary work:
  • Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

The starting base salary range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00 per hour. This is the range of the base pay only, it does not include other components that make up the total compensation package of the position. If offered a position, your total compensation package will be determined by experience, location, skills and/or education which may result in a total compensation package that falls outside the provided range.
