Primary Purpose:
Abilitlty to conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment. performing preventive maintenance. Recommendations olbasic repairs and maintenance. Overseeing contractors when prof'essional repairs are necessary. Maintain and provide lor the safe condition and operation ofall electrical fixtures and systems in district t'acilities. Provide maintenance service for electrical trades.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Valid Texas driver’s license (class C)
Must be eligible to drive based on the Texas DPS School Transportation Guidelines
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge ofelectrical circuits and wiring and operating principles for motors
Knowledge of local electrical codes
Ability to read blueprints, schemalics, and written reference material
Ability to read and lbllow oral and written instructions and the ability to communicateeffectively
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Experience
Four (4) years' experience in electrical fleld
Major Responsibilities and Duties: - Inspect new and repaired wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Perform preventive maintenance on distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
- Identify repairs needed on power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines, and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Inspect projects upon completion to make sure they are up to District standards, ensure areas are clean, and secured.
- Inspect or recommend replacement of electrical appliances, including commercial ovens, ranges, steam tables, washers, dryers, etc.
- Assist on special projects as may be identified by the Facilities Department.
- Assist with maintenance of building communication/electronic systems.
- Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed to include after-hours calls.
- Perform other duties and assignments as requested by administration.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

Equipment Used:
Multimeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe benders and threaders; hand and power tools (saw, drills, etc.); trencher, jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder. Light truck or van.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Typical school atmosphere. Frequent interruptions. Strenuous standing, stooping, walking, climbing ladders, bending, pushing and pulling, must be physically fit and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Working indoors, outdoors, in extreme temperatures including hot and cold temperature swings, inclement weather, works with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Frequent district wide travel.
