Monday - Friday, 13 hours/week, times to be determined
SALARY: Range 16, salary placement $18.71 - $23.91 hourly + 2% bilingual stipend
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience

CLASSIFIED JOB DESCRIPTION:
Parent/Community Liaison Assistant: Under general supervision, assist principal and teachers with maintaining open communications between the school, parents and the community.
a. Required:
1 High school graduation or its equivalent.
2. Knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of children; knowledge and understanding of community.
3. Ability to speak and write effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions; work independently on own initiative; establish and maintain cooperative relationships;
ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions.
4. Must pass basic high school competency test.
5. Valid California driver license.
b. Desirable:
1. Some college experience preferred.
2. Experience in youth work activities; experience in community service. Some office and computer experience is desirable.
3. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assist principal with organizing school site volunteer program.
2. Assist principal and teachers with parent communications.
3. Serve as liaison between school and business community partnerships.
4. Assist principal with school public relations.
5. Work with staff to develop and monitor student community service program.
6. Serve as representative to parent organizations.
7. Assist staff with organizing student mentorship program.
8. Schedule and coordinate parent training classes.
9. Perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to stand and circulate.
3. May require the ability to ascend or descend steps.
4. Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.
5. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
6. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
7. Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop.
8. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.
9. Ability to reach in all directions.
10. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to use a keyboard.
