POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing the Home Loan Underwriters. Ensuring the timely underwriting, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information for existing and prospective borrowers to maximize credit and minimize risk and potential loss. Contribute to an exceptional experience for the customer when working with F&M. First and foremost, you must be trustworthy and precise. OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:
- Work to manage the team of underwriters to complete daily tasks, demonstrating respect and professionalism, being prompt, and supporting management with special request as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages a team of experienced underwriters
- Implements company guidelines and processes to ensure timely closings and salability
- Assess borrower financial and legal standing to determine borrower eligibility for each loan
- Conduct a critical review and analysis of the appraisal, insurance policy, title reports, borrower entity documents and borrower credit profile
- Underwriting staff training and make recommendations for additional training methods/modules when needed
- Field loan scenario questions from an underwriting perspective
- Helps implement company guidelines and processes to ensure timely closings and scalability
- Work with underwriting team to assess borrower profile to determine borrower eligibility for each loan.
- Second review officer on denies, withdrawn, and incomplete loan applications.
- Perform monthly Quality Control Reviews and report monthly to the Home Loan Operating Committee.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 3 years of leadership and management recommended
- Experience with mortgage regulations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and time-management skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to achieve results most effectively
- Ability to work across departments as needed. Capable of handling customer and teammate conflict situations tactfully and professionally.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in tight timelines and meet required deadlines.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) when applicable, Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and the USA PATRIOT Act. Adhere to Customer Identification, Customer Due Diligence and reporting of suspicious activities to the BSA Department.
