TDC Specialty Underwriters, Inc. (TDCSU), an Excess & Surplus lines specialist within the TDC Group of companies, offers a broad range of professional and management liability insurance products focused on healthcare providers, institutions and organizations. TDCSU has been in existence since January 2016 and is seeking to hire experienced professionals to support its continued growth. TDCSU is headquartered in Farmington, Connecticut.
TDCSU is currently seeking an AVP, Management Liability Underwriting to support the expansion of its Management Liability business. This position will be responsible for growth and retention of the middle market/non-hospital segment of our book, with opportunities to work with strategic broker partners nationwide. The position will either be in-person based out of our Unionville, CT office or full-time remote within the US.
Responsibilities:
Working under the general supervision of senior management and acting within authority appropriate to this position, the underwriter is expected to:
- develop and maintain productive relationships with our distribution partners,
- plan and participate in marketing meetings, including in-person broker visits and national conferences,
- rigorously select, evaluate and secure individual new business accounts that meet our underwriting standards and guidelines in the middle market segment,
- analyze and evaluate management liability renewal business and determine appropriate coverage structure and renewal pricing, working within underwriting guidelines
- constructively engage with peers and company support areas in day-to-day decision-making and customer service.

Preferred Candidates:
- Should possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to clearly communicate their thought process in risk evaluation
- Should possess an interest in the dynamics and trends underlying the healthcare industry and related social, regulatory, economic and legal trends impacting it.
- Should have existing broker/agent relationships within the Management Liability segment.
- An interest in acquiring RPLU or CPCU designation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years college) required.
- Four (4) or more years management liability or other healthcare/medical professional liability underwriting experience. Equivalent experience in a broker capacity is also acceptable.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word and demonstrated aptitude with Windows based operating systems
