Mission:   In order to further the mission of the Lucky Eagle Casino and Hotel (LEC&H) and the Chehalis Tribe to deliver high quality programs, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), under the direction of Chehalis Tribal Council, will be responsible for complex administrative activities related to finances and accounting, marketing and promotions, resort operations, staffing, and other activities to support the business operations.  

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The CEO provides exemplary leadership and performance accountability to the organization through the alignment and execution of the strategic goals and objectives of the Chehalis Business Committee and the LEC&H leadership team.  The CEO will manage and direct the organization towards its primary objectives, based on profit and return on capital, by performing duties personally or through subordinate managers.  Maintaining transparent, collaborative relations with leadership team, vendors, community, and the Chehalis Tribe.  Knowledge of casino operations and a strong commitment to the mission of LEC&H is essential for success.

 

This position ensures confidentiality, security, and accuracy of business operations; promotes positive guest and team member relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding guest service to fellow team members, guests, vendors, etc. is expected.  Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.    

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Directly or indirectly supervises Executive team and administrative staff.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the Chief Executive Officer position classification include but not limited to:

  • Align company’s mission, vision, culture, goals, and objectives to promote revenue, profitability, and strong teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Ensures fair and consistent treatment of all team members and promotes the professional development of tribal members.
  • Develop, mentor and coach directors and managers; demonstrate strong leadership skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Responsible for strategic and daily operations of the casino and hotel by directing, assigning, and participating in the development and implementation of the LEC&H business plan.
  • Establishes current and long-range goals, objectives, plans and policies, subject to approval by the Chehalis Business Committee
  • Reviews operating results of the organization, compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.
  • Oversees the fiscal activities of the organization, proficient in understanding, developing and articulating budgeting, reporting and auditing functions; participates in the preparation, implementation and approval processes of budgets and monitors budgets regularly assisting in resolution and modification processes. 
  • Regularly prepares and presents business reports of staffing, finance, and other related operational activities to the Chehalis Business Committee
  • Provides both short- and long-term strategic planning of business endeavors which focuses on internal operations; provides the advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out business plans, standards, and procedures, consistent with established policies.
  • Plans, coordinates, and controls the daily operation of the organization through the organization’s executive team and company leadership.
  • Meets with executives to ensure that operations are being executed in accordance with the organization’s plans and policies.
  • Thorough analytical skills and knowledge to oversee the adequacy and soundness of the organization’s financial structure and strategic direction of the company; ensures that it is integrated throughout the property
  • Plans and develops public relations policies designed to improve company’s image and relations with customers, associates, shareholders and general public.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization at varying levels and represents the organization with guests, shareholders, the financial community, and the public.
  • Adheres to the policies of Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel and The Chehalis Tribe.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in Business related field such as Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, International Business and/or Operations Management, Master’s degree preferred, with preference in business, finance, or hospitality/casino management.  Must have minimum of fifteen (15) years of combined gaming/hotel/resort hospitality experience.  Destination four diamond resort gaming property and Indian gaming property experience preferred. 

 

SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Ten (10) years senior management experience/executive level at a destination resort/gaming property with over 700 team members with a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years in Class III gaming experience. Tribal Gaming experience preferred.  Strong leadership, financial and analytical skills required. Proven ability to meet or exceed revenue goals. 

 

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a strong track record of effectively leading a direct service organize with a complex array of programs with the ability to leverage strengths across program areas; excellent project management skills. Strong analytic and decisive decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key objectives and tactics necessary to achieve organizational goals. Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data­ driven program evaluation, ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

 

Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts and be comfortable with public speaking in small and large groups of people.  Must always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. 

 

Must be a minimum of 21 years old and can obtain and retain a Washington State Class III Gaming License; successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen; and have and maintain a driving record that at least meets the minimum requirements established by Lucky Eagle Casino & Hotel vehicle insurance provider.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle; feel; or grip objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms; stoop; crouch or work in cramped or awkward positions; repetitive motions.  This person may regularly lift and/or move up to 30+ pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.  

 

ENVIRONMENT:

The environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member may encounter while performing the essential functions of the position.

 

Primarily indoors and may be exposed to heavy smoke and fluctuations in temperature while in and around the Casino and/or Hotel.   May also, from time-to-time, be exposed to noise from slot machines, customers, music and public announcement system, as is common in a Casino and/or Hotel environment.

 

Position, in support of LEC&H’s Pride in Property values, assists with the daily cleaning of public and team member spaces, ensuring hey are properly cleaning (to property standards) and sanitized; examples of daily cleaning protocols include but are not limited to the cleaning of work areas, machines, equipment, using cleaning and sanitizing agents and report of any and all cleanliness issues.
