We are looking for an Senior Underwriter – Political Violence and Terrorism 

 

The Impact You Will Have 

Based in North America’s Northeast Zone this role will report directly to the NE Regional Head of Property with a matrix to Head of Political Violence and Hostile Environment Solutions.   

 

You will work with a small, but closely aligned, global team with strong growth ambitions. 

 

You will support the development of the Political Violence/Terrorism (PVT) business in the region by negotiating participation, pricing and terms and conditions on new and renewal business, as well as prospecting and educating about our product offering. 

 

You will also be tasked with developing the PVT position in the region. 

 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

  • Support the development and execution of the regional underwriting strategy for Property and PVT. 

  • Underwrite in line with PVT governance framework . 

  • Understand Allianz Commercial strategy and global PVT dynamics. 

  • Underwrite profitable new and renewal business.  

  • Own, develop, and maintain, strong relationships with key brokers. 

  • Own, develop, and maintain, strong relationships with Allianz stakeholders by supporting  internal underwriting teams in the regions. 

  • Negotiate price and terms and conditions with insurance brokers and clients. 

  • Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued and filing is maintained through a close working relationship with Operations and Cat Modelling teams (Salesforce, Global Genius and SharePoint). 

  • Working closely with our Market Management/Key Account Managers as well as other lines of business to identify a suitable pipeline and cross sell opportunities. 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients in partnership with Market Management. 

  • Work with NA underwriting team to identify key personal development and training needs. 

 

What you’ll bring to the role: 

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience underwriting profitable business in LoB. And In depth understanding of LoB products and portfolio; 

  • Established relationships with brokers at peer group level and well established within market; 

  • Good understanding of Multinational proposition at Allianz; 

  • Good understanding of PVT products and portfolio; 

  • Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB. Manage the underwriting books. Analyze trends and scenario plans from which portfolio strategies can be developed and implemented. Apply knowledge of how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs. 

  • Ability to analyze highly complex data from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolves issues before they transpire. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; 

  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making; 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 

  • Ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority; 

  • Preferably Degree in Economics, Law, or other appropriate discipline.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $99,563 to $140,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
