Join our team at WSU Tech as a Success Coach and play a vital role in encouraging student achievement and retention. Our Success Coaches serve as mentors, guiding students through their educational journeys and helping them to navigate the challenges of college life.

  • Compensation: $23.01 /hr
  • Worksite Location: City Center with ability to travel to other campuses
  • Schedule: M-F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Overview/Job Summary:

The Success Coach serves as a key student support professional within WSU Tech’s Basic Needs Center. This role focuses on providing guidance, advocacy, and resource connection to help students overcome barriers to academic and personal success. The Success Coach works collaboratively with college departments and community partners to enhance student retention, completion, and overall well-being.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students accessing the Basic Needs Center.
  • Connect students with on- and off-campus resources to address barriers such as food insecurity, housing, transportation, and financial hardship.
  • Act as an advocate and liaison for students, helping them navigate college processes and community support systems.
  • Develop individualized success plans based on student needs and progress toward completion.
  • Collaborate with departments across campus to identify and implement student retention and completion strategies.
  • Support enrollment and advising efforts during special projects and events.
  • Promote WSU Tech’s mission, programs, and student expectations across all interactions.
  • Collect and analyze data on student engagement, retention, and success outcomes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all communications and recordkeeping.
  • Participate in at least 20 hours of professional development annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage compassionately and professionally with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Independent travel between campuses or community sites may be required; valid driver’s license and current auto insurance necessary.
