Description
SUMMARY: Assist the Director of Business Services in management of Charge Entry Department by performing the necessary functions for an effective and productive billing services department. The Assistant Business Office manager will manage a team responsible for timely entry of charges and CPT/ICD-10 coding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Provide support to the Director of Business Services
- Supervise, support, motivate and mentor Charge Entry Department
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of Charge Entry process including compliance with Federal and State regulations, HMA’s compliance program and AMA coding guidelines
- Ensure all charges are being entered timely and accurately
- Monitor for missed charges
- Assist in establishing policy and procedures for Business Services
- Ensure standard operating procedures within the department by identifying inconsistencies and defining optimal way to perform task
- Monitor productivity and conduct QA audits for accuracy
- Assist in complex account inquiries and resolution
- Data collection and analysis identifying trends, patterns and areas of improvement
- Stay up-to-date with payer policies, ensuring adherence to payer requirements, medical policies and regulations
- Collaborate with other departments to improve revenue cycle performance
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes
- Stay up-to-date on yearly/quarterly CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS code additions and deletions for all of HMA’s specialties
- Robust education and training program for Charge Entry department
- Strong understanding of rule writing to automate charge entry process when applicable
- Effectively communicate with physicians, administration and management
- Attend meetings in order to provide education to Site Managers and Physicians, as needed
- Conduct regular department meetings
- Meet all month end requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must have a minimum of 5 years management experience in revenue cycle management
- Must have knowledge of payer policies and insurance contracts
- Working knowledge of practice management system (Epic)
- Excellent customer service skills and leadership abilities necessary
- Must work well with others and be able to meet deadlines
- Time Management skills and attention to detail
- Integrity and ethical decision making
- Excellent attendance, must lead by example
- Must have experience working in physician medical practice (multi-specialty knowledge preferred)
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- College degree or comparable experience (5 years in Business Office Administration)
- Coding certification preferred
