As this is a hybrid role working out of our Creative Studios in Westlake, Ohio, we will focus on candidates who currently reside in Northeast Ohio.

The Commercial Analytics Manager serves as a strategic partner to sales, marketing, product management and associated retail accounts by providing fact-based analysis, insights and recommendations on product placement, promotion, pricing, distribution, and merchandising decisions. This role provides insights and recommendations by synthesizing sales and research information for various product categories using point-of-sales (POS), shipment, product footage data, and 3rd party database systems along with consumer research, competitive analyses, and analytical modeling, often working independently. The Commercial Analytics Manager also directly supervises the work of one or more Commercial Analysts and may also include direct account responsibility. This role must communicate analytic results, insights, and recommendations strongly, both verbally and in writing, with members of management, account executives and associated retailers. This position reports to the Director, Commercial Analytics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works closely with the Account Executive (AE) to develop a strong fact-based selling relationship with the retailer’s buying and merchandising teams.
• Independently evaluates and develops advanced analysis methodologies to track, analyze, and plan retailer opportunities. This individual leverages POS, shipment, and product footage data as well as 3rd party data sources to exercise analytic creativity, providing breakthrough insights for the retailer, Sales, and Product Merchant teams.
• Track sales performance in competitive legacy doors to determine store and program productivity and make recommendations for improvement.
• Directly manages and trains Commercial Analysts in analytical and category management techniques.
• Develops Commercial Analysts in service of their development plans and career goals.
• Communicate analytic results, insights, and recommendations strongly, both verbally and in writing, with members of management, retailers, and AE’s.
• Travels with AE’s to visit account contacts, stores, as well as to better determine future retailer needs and insights.
• Independently performs analyses, develops presentation decks, and presents findings and insights to retailers and internal management.
• Quantify program initiatives and sales trends that influence the development of annual sales plans for the retailer and internal management.
• Educates and counsels “customers” (Sales, Marketing, Merchants, and the Retailer) regarding insights in order to take advantage of promotion, distribution, pricing, and competitive opportunities.
• Utilizes advanced research methodologies to educate customers and assist them in interpreting data to fit specific customer needs.
• The ability to successfully manage a large number of concurrent projects independently.

Experience Required:

Required Length & Type of Experience:
• 6+ years experience applying advanced analytical techniques to solve complex business problems.
• Strong working knowledge of software programs including Excel, R, Access, SQL, or a similar large database applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
• Ability to influence internal clients, senior management, and external clients (retailers).
• Advanced analytical skills necessary for formulation of research, process information, and data interpretation.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Access, SAS, and other large database applications.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.

Position Title

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, statistics, operations research, applied math, or other quantitative discipline.
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in above disciplines.
