Electrical Engineer III - Transmission Planner

The role of a Transmission Planner is indispensable for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of the electric grid. Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an Electrical Engineer III - Transmission Planner to support a variety of critical engineering projects related to our transmission systems, in which you will perform an integral role!
Key Areas of Focus:
- Developing and maintaining long-range transmission plans to ensure system reliability and economic efficiency
- Performing detailed analyses of the transmission system under various operating conditions to identify limitations
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions for transmission system issues
- Preparing and presenting technical reports on transmission planning studies to management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders
- Staying updated with the latest industry standards, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements related to transmission planning
- Developing and managing project budgets, ensuring all projects are submitted to the design group for timely completion
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required for this role
- Relevant and progressively responsible engineering experience is valued, preferably in the bulk electric transmission systems and/or transmission planning
- Possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is valued
- Fundamental understanding of electric power systems, preferable PSSe and TARA load flow tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or small amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
