Job Title: Classroom Behavioral Support Specialist

About Us: Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services, Inc. (CRCSI) is partnering with Brownsville Area School District to provide Classroom Behavioral Support Specialists for the school term. This role focuses on supporting the district’s In School Suspension Classroom.
Job Description: The Classroom Behavioral Support Specialist will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to implement behavior interventions and provide support to students with emotional and behavioral needs. The goal is to help students remain in the classroom, complete assignments, and develop healthy coping skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behavior interventions.
- Provide one-on-one support to students to help them stay on task and complete assignments.
- Support group therapy sessions for two or more students.
- Provide crisis assistance and utilize de-escalation techniques.
- Communicate regularly with parents or legal guardians about the child’s mental health needs and behavioral issues.
- Link students to needed community resources and identify additional services and supports.
- Implement reintegration plans for students returning from hospitalizations or facility stays.
- Participate in meetings (staff meetings, trainings, IEP meetings, community forums, etc.).
- Enhance awareness of mental health needs and services within the district.
- Model behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies for teachers and staff.
- Assist students in developing healthy coping skills to manage emotions and avoid problem behaviors.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related field.
- Experience in implementing behavior interventions and working with children in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
- Knowledge of community resources and mental health services.
