POSITION SUMMARY: Mixes and serves drinks, stocks supplies, keeps accurate records of inventory, accepts money and makes change. Ensures the utmost in guest service. Maintenance of a safe, clean and comfortable environment for guests at all times.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following,


  • Demonstrates a commitment to ensuring responsible alcohol service.

 

  • Maintains strict adherence to Bear River Casino Resort policies and procedures on alcohol service, overservice and stopping service.

 

  • Promotes positive customer relations and consistently prompt service.

 

  • Mixes drinks for servers and customers

 

  • Stocks supplies.

 

  • Cleans bar daily and weekly.

 

  • Keeps records accurately and neatly.

 

  • Provides excellent customer service.

 

  • Follows drink recipes.

 

  • Changes kegs.

 

  • Other duties may be assigned.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Limited supervisory authority over Bar Backs and Beverage Servers.  Makes decisions regarding intoxicated guests in conjunction with Bar Supervisor, Bar Manager and/or Manager on Duty.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) year bartending experience required.
  • Bartending License and/or certificate preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic drink recipes, cocktails, beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks required.
  • Must be neat, clean and professional in appearance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
  • Must provide or obtain a Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment. 
  • Must provide or obtain the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and maintain during employment.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
  • Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
  • Able to work well with customers and coworkers

This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state of the art filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment. Employee smoking is only permitted in designated employee areas during working hours.
