Advanced Parent Education Home-Based – Parent Aide Worker
About the Role: Empowering Families Through Intensive Support
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Parent Aide Worker to provide necessary and appropriate intensive, concrete services to children and families involved in the Advanced Parent Education Home-Based program. This role is focused on increasing a family's ability to function successfully in their community by coordinating service delivery and providing direct, hands-on instruction in the family's home.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including non-standard hours such as evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
The Parent Aide Worker provides instruction, modeling, demonstrations, and supervision in the family’s home, covering areas such as:
- Child Care: Demonstrating non-abusive child management skills, teaching appropriate child care techniques (e.g., personal hygiene, proper discipline, and age-appropriate supervision), and assisting parents with home safety and health issues.
- Education Support: Monitoring children's school attendance and providing verbal support to parents to overcome obstacles with school staff.
- Home Management: Assisting clients in improving housekeeping skills (e.g., cleaning, laundry, kitchen cleanliness) and money management skills (e.g., establishing household budgets and efficient shopping).
- Nutrition: Demonstrating and teaching meal planning, providing nutritious menus/recipes, and taking clients to the grocery store.
- Community Support: Acting in a supportive manner to break down social isolation, providing transportation as needed, and assisting clients in the utilization of community resources (e.g., public assistance, health services).
- Reporting: Reporting any current or potential danger to the children to MDHHS immediately, and notifying the referring worker of any missed appointments.

Qualifications: What You Bring
Education
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a Human Services field preferred.
Requirements
- Transportation: Reliable and ongoing transportation is required to make home visits and provide transportation to youth and families.
- Driver's License: A valid unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Insurance: Provide proof of vehicle insurance coverage on the vehicle used for transporting youth and families.
- Health: Negative TB test and satisfactory physical exam within one year of hire.
- Background Checks: Successful completion of all required pre-employment screening is mandatory, including.
- Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) check.
- National and State Sex Offender Registry check.
- Central Registry (CR) check for working directly with children.
