About the Role
The Director of Acute Care provides strategic leadership as a nurse leader responsible for nursing care treatment and services, as well as other designated patient care functions/services within the hospital organization.
POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accountable to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management.
- Provides leadership for critical care and medical/surgical nursing department.
- Administers managerial and leadership functions of planning, goal setting, staffing, and directing activities of assigned departments/areas of responsibility.
- Is responsible for organization throughout, clinical, and financial management, improving quality and safety outcomes and increased customer satisfaction for patients, families, and physicians and Function as Administrative Point-of-Contact for the purpose of responding to any and all audits associated with Acute Care and ED Services.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Has business/fiscal development accountability.
- Responsible for employee and patient satisfaction initiatives and outcomes.
- Responsible for payroll for staff.
- Responsible for safety as well as safe staffing.
- Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
- Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.
- Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations.
- Approve timecards, schedules, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.
- Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
- Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
- Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.

- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field preferred (Health Administration, Business, Public Health, or management) is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is preferred.
- Current Texas Licensed Registered Nurse.
- Current ACLS.
- 5 years of progressive management experience.
- 5 years on Manager and/or Director level experience in a hospital environment.
