At EBCO General Contractor, LTD. our Interns work alongside and are mentored by a Superintendent, and in some cases, an Assistant Superintendent. In this position, the Intern develops hands-on jobsite experience with increasing responsibility to successfully complete a project. Under close supervision and direction, they learn to be leaders on the construction site, attain profit goals, ensure workplace safety, exceed the owner’s expectations and promote a positive company image.
As the Intern, you will have the following responsibilities:
CONTRACT: Becoming familiar with and building the project in accordance with contracts, documents, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, etc. Under the direction of the Superintendent, identifies, measures and reports changes to the Project Manager; ensures all subcontractors understand the company rules and policies.
SCHEDULE: Working with the Superintendent and Project Manager to develop the project schedule; organizing all trades in relation to the schedule with respect to people, equipment and materials. Assists with verifying material and resource requirements and ensures adequate flow, and managing work on the critical path.
QUALITY: Day-to-day quality control and reviewing work to ensure it is performed to an acceptable level of workmanship. Uses the punch system and quality control measures.
SAFETY: Working with the Superintendent to maintain OSHA Standards on the project and ensuring the project is maintained in an orderly, clean, secure and professional manner. Actively participates in Safety meetings and implementation of safety programs.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Going above and beyond to maintain excellent customer satisfaction at all times.
Qualifications
- Is currently attending a College or University in a Construction Management or Engineering Program and has the desire to pursue a career in Commercial Construction.
- Has a goal to eventually become a leader on the project team.
- Has some understanding of building concepts, codes, regulations, laws and best practices.
- Is a team player.
- Is detail-oriented.
- Has leadership ability and is capable of motivating subcontractors to achieve desired results.
- Is proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
- Has good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Can perform with some direction.
- Has a strong willingness to learn.
- Is available to travel, and work unaided in a non-traditional office environment.
- Can work in the field and be subjected to outdoor weather conditions
