Job Title: IT Support Specialist
Location: Based in Newport, ME, supporting multiple locations in Central Maine
Employment Type: Full-Time  

Position Overview:
Hometown Health Center (HHC) is seeking a hands-on and resourceful IT Support Specialist to provide technical support across our healthcare facilities. This role focuses on break-fix support—resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues quickly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operation of mission-critical systems, including our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a healthcare environment where compliance, reliability, and confidentiality are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely manner.
  • Support and maintain local network devices (switches, access points, cabling).
  • Set up and deploy new devices, including imaging and configuration.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory and track equipment changes.
  • Collaborate with remote IT teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Perform routine checks on backup systems, patching, and security tools.
  • Assist staff with basic application troubleshooting (Microsoft 365, EMR/EHR platforms, browsers).
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational security policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 2+ years of hands-on IT support experience (helpdesk, desktop support, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and common business applications.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS, wireless troubleshooting).
  • Experience with PC hardware repair, upgrades, and imaging.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently onsite.
  • Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare IT with HIPAA compliance.
  • Familiarity with security/access control systems and basic VoIP troubleshooting.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications.
