POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Designer supports the Design Director to help bring the collection to life across all categories; from performing market research, to helping create seasonal concepts for print & color execution. This position supports the development of product, working with Merchandising, Sourcing and CAD at handovers and fittings to make sure product is translated & executed properly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create trend-right, brand-right color palettes and print concepts that serve the seasonal assortment needs that is cohesive with a color POV, and offers diverse patterns to serve the assortment
• Create color/print palettes for Core Programs based on needs given from Merchandising while tying into the Color/Print concepts 
• Research industry trends and market competitors to ensure product is consistent with fashion/market trends as well as overall business strategy
• Turn over new product to sourcing and product development teams, review product samples and attend all fittings for respective categories
• Identify new fabric needs that are focused and meaningful to the assortment
• Create product story boards that capture design themes to excite our customers
• Create trend boards based on Design Director’s direction
• Update & manage fabric boards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field
• 2-3 years of Design experience with strong product development experience across different product categories in women’s wear
• Ability to develop commercial color & print direction that is trend-right with guidance from Design Director
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a must
• Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
• Understanding of marketing and branding.
