RAFT is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Business Development Director to expand the reach of our educational products beyond the Bay Area and across the United States. This leader will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by increasing brand awareness, attracting new customers, and positioning RAFT as a premier provider of innovative learning materials for schools, districts, camps, and other community organizations.


The Director will collaborate closely with internal teams to achieve organizational growth goals while upholding RAFT’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a national business development strategy to increase awareness and adoption of RAFT’s educational solutions.
  • Research and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to inform direction and identify new opportunities.
  • Build multi-year growth plans, track performance, and refine strategies to achieve long-term revenue and impact goals.
  • Refine offerings, pricing, and go-to-market approaches based on market and partner feedback.
  • Partner with marketing to develop messaging and materials that showcase RAFT’s impact and differentiation.
  • Provide actionable insights, market intelligence, and pipeline reporting to senior leadership.
  • Represent RAFT at conferences, industry events, and speaking engagements.


What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Education, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive sales or business development experience, ideally within education or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience in education products and nonprofit marketing is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of K-8 educational product and service markets, including school and district procurement processes
  • Proven experience launching new products or services into educational markets.
  • Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and the ability to connect mission impact with revenue generation.
  • Collaborative leader who brings teams together around shared growth goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Self-starter and creative problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to represent RAFT to key partners, external audiences, and community stakeholders with clarity, conviction, and enthusiasm.
