Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Parent Educator for the School Impact Program is responsible for providing direct support service for refugee children and their families to promote effective integration and education and successful transition to the public school systems. Will be involved in operating the parenting classes, parent orientations and provide early education resources for newly arrived refugee families. Will focus on parent involvement in schools, and building connections with their children.
Position Responsibilities:
- *Coordinates transportation, scheduling and correspondence between parents, case managers, schools and staff and host parent activities.
- * Develops, manages and presents parent classes and orientations over related education topics to small and large groups of limited English Speakers.
- * Work with schools to find ways to increase parent involvement in schools and in their children’s lives.
- *Research Early Childhood resources for families and educate them on available services and opportunities for their children.
- *Acts as a liaison between the CC-Parenting Programs to coordinate parenting classes, curriculum and activities.
- Performs regular maintenance of client files and reports monthly client counts to Program Director. Monitor the programs internal data spreadsheet (Excel) to ensure all record keeping is up to date.
- Enters and tracks client information and program data on a regular basis.
- Assist Education Director with ensuring sound dialogue is sustained between partners, clients, volunteers, Refugee Services, and refugee families.
- Ability to transport clients when necessary using an agency vehicle.
- Conduct home visits on an as needed basis, able to identify barriers and develop solutions.
- Take part in fundraising efforts for the program and the Refugee Services Department.
- Provide supportive services and referrals for refugee youth as needed.
- Assist with maintenance, disinfecting and care of donated classroom spaces.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Follows and complies with grant requirements and agency procedures aligned with COA.
- Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner.
- Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
- Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in _Early Education, social services_ or business-related field.
- Experience
- Minimum of _2-3__ years’ experience in education or experience working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
- License and Credentials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
- Ability to operate an agency 12 passenger van on an as needed basis for program activities and events.
- Must be 21 years of age and adhere to the CCAOSA policy, which will not allow anyone under the age of 21 to operate an agency vehicle
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience in working in a social service environment that demonstrates a sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural populations is preferred.
- Ability to present to small and large groups and assess student progress
- Experience with personal computer, various computer software, email and Microsoft Works, specifically Excel.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
- Must have good written and verbal skills;
- Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional client relationship.
- Flexibility to respond to the needs of a client population that changes daily.
- Some knowledge of client case file documentation and record keeping procedures.
- Ability to drive and maintain reliable personal transportation.
- Able to drive a 12-passenger vehicle when necessary.
- Bilingual is a plus, but not required
