JOB DESCRIPTION

 

MAINTENANCE &  PLUMBING and ELECTRICAL  MANAGER  / Plumbing Inventory 

REPORTS TO:  Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

SUPERVISES:  n/a

POSITION STATUS:  Non-Contracted / Salaried

EVALUATION:  Position evaluated by Maintenance Supervisor 

WORK YEAR:  235 days / 40 hours per week

EVALUATION INSTRUMENT:  Local

SALARY SCHEDULE:  Maintenance Manager

RETIREMENT:  TRS

VACATION:  Yes

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary and benefits shall be paid according to the system's approved salary schedule.  
  • Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
  • An employee who is eligible to participate in the Public School Employees Retirement  System and who works at least 24 hours a week will be eligible for health insurance.
  •  Any non-Teacher Retirement System (TRS) eligible employee will have a FICA deduction.
 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. State approved High School Equivalency
  1. Minimum of four (4) successful in-field experience preferred
  1. Skill in reading diagrams and documents related to maintenance and construction
 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and skill to use tools of the trades.  Skill in reading, interpreting and applying information in technical manuals and other documents.  Ability to perform routine duties guided by standard practices.  Ability to take initiative to begin projects without supervision.  Ability to work cooperatively with others.  Ability to troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions. 

 

JOB GOAL:

To assist in efficiently maintaining facilities and equipment in the school system in a safe and 

attractive condition. 

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

   

1.

Performs various maintenance jobs as directed.

2.

Completes assigned work orders in a timely manner.

3.

Participates in trainings to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment

4.

Prepares required reports and maintain all records as directed

5.

Works independently with little direct supervision.

6.

Able to climb an extension ladder carrying a maximum of 50 pounds.

7.

Maintains the proper vehicle operator’s license for assigned vehicles.

8.

Operates maintenance machinery as directed.

9.

Maintains proper care of tools and equipment.

10.

Works cooperatively with other personnel.

11.

Performs carpentry, plumbing, kitchen equipment, and electrical work as assigned and/or a willingness to learn if not proficient.

12.

Repairs and maintains all types of plumbing as assigned

13.

Changes filters  as assigned.

14.

Demonstrates initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.

15.

Ensures adherence to safety guidelines and procedures established by the Elbert County School System.

16.

Follow dress code.

17.

Keeps the supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.

18.

Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.

19.

Regularly, predictably and reliably at work 

20.

Maintains a current inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.

21.

Meets and deals effectively with the general public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other persons using tact and good judgment.

22.

Ability to be present at the physical work site 

23.

Performs other tasks consistent with goals and objectives that support the vision and mission of the Elbert County School System.

Meets the certification requirements of the school system

Constant or consistent ability to supervise and  manage students.

Ability to use computer and phone to read, update, and respond to work order ticketing system

Completes assigned tasks to the expectations of the Supervisor.

Utilizes safety procedures and precautions in his/her work.

Keeps the supervisor informed of potential problems or opportunities for improvement.

Manages all plumbing and electrical work orders and inventory in the district.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Heavy Work:  Lifting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of lifting frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of lifting constantly to move objects.
