Housekeeping Worker na One Brooklyn Health

Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways and other assigned areas of the medical facility.

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. 
• Dusts furniture, dust mops floors, woodwork, and equipment.  Polishes and cleans fixtures in Utility rooms and bathrooms.
• Operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers, and vacuums.
• Wet mops, halls, stairways, and public areas.
• Shampoos rugs and furniture, cleans vents, fans, and other equipment using vacuum machines.
• Cleans fixtures, tops or windows, door frames, and high areas using a ladder.
• Gathers and disposes of trash and waste materials.
• Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required.
• Buffs, strips, wax, and polish floors.
• Removes waste from work area and places waste in specified bags or containers.
• Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patients’ rooms, including stripping beds, prepares room for new occupant; and follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
• Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.
• Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.  

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

• On-the-job training. Prior experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to read, write and understand English is essential.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
• Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
