| Qualifications: | 1. High School Diploma or GED. Vocational Education in diesel mechanics preferred. 2. Primary duties include ability to maintain and repair of diesel engines. Journeyman level of experience is preferred. 3. Working knowledge of one or more of the following trades is desirable but not required: a. Heating installation, repair and maintenance. b. Carpentry work and repairs in building construction and maintenance. c. Plumbing installation and repair. d. Refrigeration installation. 4. Willingness to travel to remote locations is a must. 5. Ability to live and work in a cross-cultural rural Alaskan environment. 6. Ability to carry out successfully the duties below. |
| Duties: | 1. At a journeyman level, performs maintenance and repairs on district wide gas and diesel electrical power generator plants. 2. Performs other duties in heating, plumbing, refrigeration, and carpentry as assigned or required. 3. Performs duties with the highest standards of safety for staff, students, equipment, and structures. 4. Identifies and requisitions parts from catalog references in specialty area (s). 5. Id responsible for reporting general building maintenance and equipment malfunctions and repair needs. 6. Assists in training employees in specialty trades; i.e. P.M. programs and repairs. 7. Performs other duties as assigned. |
