Position Summary: Serves as a working Lead for Phlebotomists by answering questions, researching answers, and coordinating staff scheduling. Performs phlebotomy procedures and point of care testing on patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and maintains scheduling for lab personnel.
- Serves as a resource for staff regarding complex testing environment.
- Maintains inventory, manages equipment, keeps facility running at peak levels.
- Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood and body fluid samples. Run daily controls.
- Runs all POC testing for the practice.
- Performs collections on newborns, pediatric and adult patients. Includes venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe, and butterfly technique. Capillary puncture using heel and finger-stick techniques required.
- Conducts designated laboratory testing. Includes running centrifuge, preparing specimen for freezer, refrigeration, and room temperature orders.
- Maintains patient and employee confidentiality.
- Maintains quality control and CLIA regulations and prepares the lab for regulatory surveys and inspections.
- Coordinates external contracted services for laboratory sample analysis.
- Assists in care of donor prior to, during and after donation. Schedule patient, prep patient for lab testing, fax lab copies to Doctor’s office and additional Doctors’ offices. Make copies of lab results for patient care.
- Instructs patients on specimen collection procedures. Includes 24-hour urine collections, hemoccult kits, sputum and sperm counts.
- Performs intra-clinic diagnostic lab tests. Includes, mono, strep, urine pregnancies, occult blood, u/a dips and on-site drug testing.
- Produces thorough, accurate and timely reports of project activities.
- Facilitates delivery of abnormal results when provider is not in the office, to insure no delay in the quality of care.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- High School Education or equivalent.
- Phlebotomy certification through ASCP or eligible status required.
- Previous phlebotomy experience in high volume clinic or hospital setting required.
- If eligible, must obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.

The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
