Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future / Hybrid Working (one to two office days a week – Bradford/Leeds and must be willing to travel to our sites across Yorkshire).
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

As one of our potable Water Quality Continuous Improvement Scientist you will:
- Consider health and safety at all times and to support a zero-accident culture.
- Demonstrate a can-do attitude with not only an ability to plan for the future but a capability to deal effectively with the unforeseen.
- Serve as the primary Water Quality continuous improvement contact for your team, business service partners, and stakeholders.
- Support and deliver key initiatives and projects in relation to root cause analysis (RCA) in Water Quality Compliance, including leading and facilitating RCAs, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and effectively reporting findings and recommendations to multiple stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure compliance with Performance Commitments and regulatory standards including DWI requirements.
- Preparation of root cause analysis (RCA), to support both 72 hour and 20-day reports for submission to our Regulator.
- You will be adept at influencing, persuading, and inspiring colleagues and stakeholders to adopt best practice, champion the Water Quality approach, and embrace continuous improvement across the business.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Show a proactive approach to self-development, regularly reflecting on performance and striving for excellence in line with continuous improvement principles.
- Demonstrates strong teamwork skills, actively contributing to group projects and continuous improvement activities.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot processes and systems, interpret large and diverse datasets, and identify potential compliance risks.
- Establish robust performance indicators and measurement frameworks to support continuous improvement.
- Uses root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues in water quality and drives corrective and preventive actions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate complex information clearly.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline.
- Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence.
You will also benefit from having:
- Understanding of water treatment works (WTW) production and distribution processes.
- Able to clearly present complex information to diverse audiences using a variety of formats and communication channels.
- Experience of delivering results against challenging business targets.
- Experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within the water, wastewater, or broader utilities sectors.
- Knowledge and experience applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Systems Thinking) to deliver process improvements
- Strong IT skills, with competency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI would be beneficial.
- Previous experience working in a regulated environment, ideally within the water, wastewater, utilities, process, or manufacturing sectors.
