Pricing Actuarial Analyst

About the Job
We’re looking for an analyst to work with actuarial pricing systems and data. This would suit a part-qualified actuary with a desire to build bridges between pricing and systems and data. This role offers opportunities to pioneer a methodology to fill the gap between actuarial pricing and systems. A key part of this role will involve defining MI reports as the payload of pricing data.
As an insurance firm, building accurate, efficient pricing models which are used by our underwriters helps to inform the correct level of premium required for the risks we are adding to our portfolio. Insurance companies couldn’t function without these tools. Working with the Pricing Systems and Data team you will ensure that the models deployed are true to their business requirements.
What you’ll spend your time doing:
While there is rarely a typical day, here’s a snapshot of some of the key parts of the job:
- Develop a deep understanding of the rating algorithms used for all pricing models.
- Create and maintain documentation for rating algorithms for all pricing models.
- Drive the implementation of the rating algorithms into pricing systems.
- Play an active role into the design and implementation of batch testing for all pricing models.
- Play an active role in creating technical solutions to improve underwriting and pricing efficiency.
- Define MI dashboard suite on pricing data for underwriters and actuaries.

What you’ll need:
For this particular role there are some important qualifications and experience we need you to have. These include at least 3 years experience of:
- Working within (re)insurance pricing and delegated authority process
- Building and maintaining pricing models in Excel.
- Using SQL Server to create multi-table SQL queries.
- Good working knowledge of pricing methodologies.
- Creating MI dashboards (preferably using Power BI)
- Working with actuaries and underwriters creating and improving the pricing process
In Addition:
- A strong desire to develop and define this role as key to addressing the demands of the pricing function.
- Exposure to VBA
- Understanding of the software development life cycle
- Exposure to any pricing platform
