Essential Job Functions
- Supports the Library department with development, delivery, and administration of the following:
- In-library and in-community outreach programs
- Access-centered collections projects
- Library and exhibit tours
- Traveling exhibits administration
- Physical and virtual exhibits research and development
- Promotion of library services
- Library communications and development
- Research projects
- Supports Keeneland departments with the following:
- Community relations and outreach programs
- Communications projects
- Research projects
- Collaborate with members of Library staff and other Keeneland departments
- Establish and maintain relationships with industry and community stakeholders
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of current trends in library, museum, education, and/or publishing services; Thoroughbred industry; community relations best practices
- Ability to enhance patron experience through exceptional customer service
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to support Library programs and events
- Ability to travel to support Library’s traveling outreach initiatives
- Proficient in a wide variety of library, museum, education, and/or publishing applications and technology peripherals
- Experience with online library catalogs and digital asset management systems
- Experience designing and delivering youth and adult education and/or outreach programs
- Experience promoting library, museum, education, and/or publishing services
- Initiative-taking with the ability to exercise independent judgement
- Confident in public speaking and representing the Library and Keeneland in the community
- Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail while meeting deadlines in a high service volume team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, people skills, research skills, and critical thinking skills
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Prior experience with digitization equipment, applications, and peripherals
- Experience with exhibit research and development
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited program or a Master’s degree in Public History, History, Education, Museum Studies, or a related field preferred
- 2 to 4 years of progressive employment in a high service volume library, museum, heritage site, or cultural resource organization
- 2 to 3 years of progressive employment in the Thoroughbred industry or an industry-adjacent field
