Work Location: Hybrid three days a week in our beautiful headquarters located in the Transamerica Pyramid.


Target Pay: $203,827- $226,475 per year + discretionary bonus


Role Overview:  The Director of Corporate Accounting at Prime Residential is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and accounting operations of our investment funds and other entities. This role has fiduciary responsibilities to investors in Prime Residential and leads the corporate accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, as well as adherence to our compliance and accounting policies.  Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Accounting and Tax, this role supports Prime’s leadership in shaping the corporate accounting department’s vision and growth strategy. Success requires exceptional analytical skills, leadership, and a growth mindset as well as the ability to optimize and improve processes to facilitate the effectiveness of the corporate accounting department and Company growth. The candidate must be detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and adept at managing people, processes, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Corporate Financial Operations and Audit Oversight 

  • Lead the preparation of GAAP-compliant audited financial statements for the investment funds and management entities, ensuring timely and high-quality audit execution in collaboration with external audit firms.  
  • Assist in the application of accounting principles and best practices to maintain full regulatory compliance and uphold fiduciary responsibilities to investors.  
  • Oversee investment fund level financial operations including investor contributions, distributions, capital calls, cashflow coordination, ensuring precision and transparency.  
  • Lead the preparation and review of investor statements, fund performance metrics, and related reporting deliverables. Support and collaborate with the Investor Relations team. 
  • Cross-departmental collaboration to validate financial data used in investor communications and marketing materials.? 
  • Support Capital Markets team in managing lender relationships by ensuring compliance with loan covenants, debt reporting, and capital planning. 
  • Maintain robust financial infrastructure including bank account oversight, reconciliations, and chart of accounts management to ensure data integrity and operational accuracy. 
  • Provide strategic support to senior leadership through ad hoc financial analysis and special initiatives. 
  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements that drive automation, efficiency, and accuracy. 

Management Companies’ Financial Reporting & Compliance 

  • Own the monthly close and financial reporting process for management companies, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment with internal and external standards. 
  • Review and refine expense allocations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with company policies. 
  • Develop and maintain expense allocation policies that promote consistency, fairness, efficiency, and regulatory adherence. 
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with department heads, aligning financial plans with strategic objectives. 

Internal Communications & Continuous Improvement  

  • Establish clear, consistent communication channels to keep executive leadership, cross-functional partners, and team members informed on key accounting updates, timelines, and initiatives. 
  • Translate complex financial data and accounting processes into clear, actionable information for both financial and non-financial stakeholders. 
  • Identify, implement, and monitor process improvements and technology enhancements that streamline workflows, reduce risk, and improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.  

Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Lead and develop a high-performing corporate accounting team through targeted mentorship, hands-on coaching, and disciplined performance management. 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and operational excellence. 
  • Champion a mindset of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation in processes, tools, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and business impact. 

Requirements

 

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; CPA required. 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting or financial management, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role; real estate industry experience preferred. 
  • Deep expertise in real estate fund accounting, including partnership accounting and application of relevant tax regulations. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP with demonstrated experience managing audits, overseeing financial reporting, and leading general ledger, budgeting, and forecasting processes. 
  • Familiarity with treasury operations, financial accounting principles, and management reporting 
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with RealPage or other real estate ERP systems strongly preferred.
