SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager, Corporate Materials Management is responsible for supply planning and the timely procurement of production materials to meet the daily production needs enterprise wide for Pella Corporation, ensuring supply planning, procurement, and materials management processes are followed and key KPI metrics are met that meet and exceed customer expectations. The Sr. Manager, Corporate Materials Management will provide process oversight and guidance to all manufacturing facilities on how product is moved the most efficiently to and out of raw material storage within each facility. The Sr. Manager, Corporate Materials Management is accountable for the strategic development of the people, processes, and technology in the area Materials Management necessary to support Pella’s long term growth.  

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsible for identification, development and implementation of the Pella enterprise-wide programs, policies and procedures that support the raw materials procurement and management to support all brands and channels.  Included in this is the development and communication of metrics that support the corporate wide materials management processes.

 

Responsible for providing oversight to ensure all manufacturing plants follow standard raw material storage and issuance of controlled inventory working directly with Plant department managers and plant management. 

 

Develops and executes the overall strategy for improving the CMM function while supporting the vision of Pella’s Supply Chain team of an efficient, data driven supply chain.

 

Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, systems, policies and procedures that support the Supply Chain vision. Provide a direct communication link with manufacturing on new product introductions, corporate initiatives, PDSN and NA promotions, etc 

 

Provides leadership and direction to the CMM team in their efforts to support the total life cycle of Pella’s product. Focuses on waste reduction such as the elimination of manual processes, increasing auto-release, and reducing stockroom outages. 

 

Responsible for developing a consistent process to translate the corporate S&OP forecast to demand planning for the CMM team.

 

Supports CMM team as they carry out necessary follow up and expediting activities to ensure delivery as required for various production needs.  Ensures that the CMM team proactively communicates within the company to deviations from the delivery schedule. 

 

Responsible for assuring that all personnel are progressing professionally, that high standards of performance are met and maintained, and that personnel are aware of technological advances in the industry and profession.  This is done by actively supporting participation in professional organizations and activities as well as seminar training. Responsible for maintaining fully trained backups throughout the team. 

 

Responsible for  identifying proper inventory levels and ensuring that the proper mechanisms are in place in support of production and customer requirements. Communicates across all levels of the operations team to ensure alignment of material requirements.  

 

Strives to improve internal processes within the Supply Chain Department. Drives accountability throughout the process and through various team to support the pursuit of improving customer reliability. 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises and indirectly supervises team members.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Supply Chain degree is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS 

Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

None required, but prefer a CPSM, CPM, and/or CPIM.
